Home is Where the Body is
“Clothes are our house and our bodies are our homes.
Our bodies are our love,
the thing we know we can’t live without.
“Home is where the heart is”, they say.
We find comfort in our homes,
seated next to love and joy,
Tied into happiness and laughter.
It’s where we cry, where we smile,
where we choose to be our whole selves,
unapologetically.
Our bodies are our home.
Our clothes are our house.
Our clothes are what we choose,
how we shelter our homes.
We pick our house to protect our love and joy,
and to cradle our tears and sadness.
We use our house to protect that which we love.
Never do we base the reach of our love off of the house which holds it.
Never do we squeeze our joy and sadness and all else into a house too small to fit.
Always do we hunt for a house that will give us space to love,
and laugh and cry,
and grow and learn.
So never should we fit our bodies into clothes too small,
clothes not meant to hold all the things we have to offer.
And always should we let our bodies grow and hold all it can,
and look to fit our clothes to our bodies,
never the other way around.
Our clothes are our house,
and our bodies are our homes,
may they always be loved as such.”
